Beautiful Camera! I had this camera up and going after around a minute from removing in from box. The camera has so many features that I am still exploring with it. I especially love the macro and video modes. It works great with windows Vista, which is a miracle in itself. The color of camera is spectacular, although I really would not call it orange, it is more of a marvelous burnished Copper color.

I have used this camera only a couple dozen times as we dont take many pictures except on trips and we havent taken one recently. However, I have taken some pictures and blown them up for portrait shots and have been very impressed. I love the auto focus feature and as I wear glasses I love the using the screen to shot rather than the tiny eyeview. It is easy to use and I am very pleased.

Went with Cannon based upon the recommendation of someone who uses cameras for a living. Great price and I am just learning the functions, I will use this camera often.
    Seems like a great deal.

So I picked up this camera for just over a hundred dollars... Ive been very impressed with all that Ive seen and read about it, but I have yet to manage anything spectacular with it myself. (Most likely a user issue, and not a product issue.) I was easily able to locate a cheap memory card for it that had no compatibility issues. I hope after our upcoming trip to Mexico that I can submit some great photos I hope I am able and capable of taking!
    Great camera but....

This is a great camera for $100.
    great pics, easy to use.
Only complaint, less than 30 days after I purchased it, I had to replace the date battery.
Not an easy task in Buenos Aires.
Why are these cameras shipping with old date batteries?

    Satisfactory Digital Camera
Rating Point :5 Helpful Point :0
This digital camera is inexpensive compared to other cameras and easy to use. I took a couple of shots with it and I noticed that you cant get too close to an object that you are shooting or it will not focus right. You must stand at a nice distance and use the zoom frequently. It takes some getting used to but once you get used to it, you can take some pretty good pictures. Another thing I noticed is that once you take a picture it comes out looking a bit fuzzy on the cameras display screen but once downloaded to the computer its very clear and detailed. The camera is also small and lightweight so if youre looking for something that feels a bit heavier this camera is probably not for you. Other than that its perfect for taking casual, fun pictures.

    Universal Projector Mount

    Universal Projector Mount

    Product Description

The Elite Ez Mount has a versatile design that can be used in supporting most home or office LCD and DLP projectors in either a ceiling or wall installation. Its unique adjustable quadrangle design enables the installer with a horizontal/vertical tilt and circular rotation in order to achieve optimal projection settings. Installations on high or low ceilings are not a problem for this mount. It has the option of being either flush mounted from the ceiling with its low-profile configuration, or it can be suspended from 15" to 25" from the ceiling by using the hollow extension bar, which is included. The mounting interface features four telescoping extended support arms that allow flexible positioning that will accommodate almost any projectors mounting configuration. The arms are designed to support the projector without obstructing important ventilation outlets and access panels for the lamp and air filter replacements. This minimizes heat build-up and helps maximize the lamps service life. Its robust construction enables the mount to securely hold the projector in its desired angle setting for long term use.

Customer ReviewsEngrave this performance in your mind!
Rating Point :5 Helpful Point :16
If you like Bach and are a fan of Gardiner, youll love this recording! The words to the opening cantata, when translated into English, read: "Christians, engrave this day(Christmas)in metal and marbel..." In this opening cantata, Bach, as no other composer can, paints a vivid musical picture of a hammer hitting a chisle(timpani) on metal(trumpets). Gardiner, the English Boroque Soloists, and the Monteverdi Choir, offer a performance of the Christmas Cantatas that will be "engraved" in the listeners mind even after the Christmas season.
    Joyful Bach!

This recording of Four of Bachs Christmas Cantatas shows the listener some of his most joyful music. Sir John Eliot Gardiner and the Montiverdi
Choir and the English Baroque Soloists deliver the goods on every selection. My personal favorte is BWV 63 "Christen atzet diesen Tag"
These recordings are part of the DG Archiv series of Bach Cantata Pilgrimage recordings, which for reasons of Money, et al, discontinued.
So Sir John and company decided to start their own label SDG or Soli Deo
Gloria which is working hard to record the rest of the cantatas from the
pilgrimage. The cantata are performed on Authentic Instruments, but do not
sound like an academic excersise in performance, instead they sound like
a celebration of Bachs music and spiritually. I can easily recommend the
entire series of recordings on both labels. Also their DVD of Bachs "
Christmas Oratorio" on Arthaus is a must have item, and a great compliment
    to these recordings.
    Arkiv or SDG?
Rating Point :5 Helpful Point :2
I would agree with most of Craigs review, apart from the fact that these Arkiv recordings were not exactly a part of Gardiners Bach Pilgrimage. They were recorded in London England, at Abby Road Studios, not live in a famous church in Western Europe that Bach had some connection with. This Arkiv version of Cantata No. 63 is the finished recording of the "In Rehearsal with John Eliot Gardiner" DVD, where you get to see how John conducts his rehearsals. Very interesting to say the least. I purchased them both and used as a comparison. Although VERY good, I would still choose Gardiners "Soli Deo Gloria" recordings of the actual Pilgrimage. I am a subscriber of the Bach Pilgrimage recordings, and every on is absolutely fantastic. Notably, Niklas Eklund on Baroque trumpet is absolutely the best in the world, and his interpretation of the Cantatas plays circles around both Mark Bennet and Crispian Steele-Perkins! As for the SDG version of No. 63, the Pilgrimage version has not yet been released, but it will be included on Vol. 18 of the set, so watch for it, as it will be a fantastic addition to the subscription.

This Christmas cantata volume is the crown jewel of the Monteverdi Choirs series of complete Bach cantatas. The opening chorus of the first cantata on this CD is what heaven must sound like. Unlike a few recordings Ive heard of these cantatas where the instruments overpower the voices, John Gardiner does a great job of balancing out the orchestra and choir. I listened to this CD constantly when I first got it. Buy the Monteverdi Choirs disk with the Advent cantatas to supplement this superb recording.

Marking the 250th anniversary of the composers death, John Eliot Gardiners year-long Bach Pilgrimage continues with this program of cantatas for the Feast of the Purification of Mary. The music was written for performance on February 2 in the years 1724, 1725, and 1727, and the album preserves performances given on that same date in the year 2000 in Christchurch Priory, Dorset, England. The live sound has virtually no audience noise and is beautifully balanced, though a touch of harshness is present in the recording of countertenor Robin Tyson. The joy of Gods new order in Christ is well expressed in Erfreute Zeit im neuen Bunde, a strong contrast to one of the most darkly beautiful of all Bachs sacred cantatas, Ich habe genug. Here the longing is for the death that will unite the singer with Christ, with bass Peter Harvey powerfully communicating all the required sorrow and passion. Mit Fried und Freud ich fahr dahin combines choir with soloists, and intertwines joy, lament, and resignation in music performed with dignified grandeur. The disc ends with the only surviving movement of cantata BWV200. --GaryS. Dalkin

It might be one of the best Bach Cantata recordings Ive ever experienced. BWV 82 is well known for classical music listeners. However, I like BWV 83 in this CD cuz it was very well completed through the high level of purity and integrity. Such a smooth and passionate flow makes us touching and leads to the very past which we can feel Bachs era. You wont be disappointed.
    Moving music with a message.

This is moving stuff, though I suggest listening to this recording in a slightly different order, Ich habe genug (tracks 6-10 first), then Mit Fried und Freud ich fahr dahin, (tracks 11-17), then Erfreute Zeit im neuen Bunde (Tracks 1-5) last. Ich habe genug is just sublime. It carries a message to us all, I have enough (approximate translation). Bach was speaking for his time, with a religious perspective (making sure his bills got paid too), but today- I think a secular contemporary meaning can be derived. That is, to quote a more recent expression of wanting deliverance from the suffering of desire (to take a slightly Buddist perspective), "I Do Not Want What I Havent Got", (Sinead OConnor 1990). After listening to Ich habe genug, it is difficult to not feel like there is nothing else I need in life but the beauty of such music.
    Gardiner Reveals!
Rating Point :5 Helpful Point :8
Gardiners choral conducting needs no introduction: he is simply the very best. Here, as in most of his other recent recordings of Bachs cantatas, he elicits beautiful singing and playing from his forces, breathing new life into these masterpieces. BVW 125 contains an amazing revelation (about which Ive heard nothing before -- but perhaps Ive been inattentive): Gustav Mahhler built the Der Abshied segment of Das Lied von der Erde on the "Ich will auch mit gebrochnen Augen" aria in this work! I knew that, before composing Das Lied, Mahler was restudying Bach, but I had no idea how closley he modelled the most moving part of Das Lied (the Der Abshied melody motiff, harmony, voicing and tempo)on what Bach wrote long before him in this aria. Amazing stuff!

This is another of the DG cantata CDs, released before the big falling-out between Gardiner and DG, that was actually recorded on the Pilgrimage (Christchurch Priory Church, Dorset, very much home territory for JEG).

The big hit here is the beautiful cantata for solo bass BWV82 "Ich habe genug", with its gorgeous aria "Schlummert ein, ihr matten Augen". The performances are crisp, clear and well-executed. At the Amazon price, this is a bargain.

John Eliot Gardiners original Millennium Bach Cantata Pilgrimage plan involved weekly Deutsche Grammophon recordings of all the concerts, but the plan did not prove practical. This CD of Bachs Ascension Day cantatas dates from 1993 and 1999. The pride of the disc is BWV11: The opening chorus is an adrenaline fix of blazing, suitably ascending motifs led by studio-immaculate baroque trumpets. Thereafter, the mood changes. The alto aria "Ach bleibe" (actually the great Agnus Dei from the Mass in BMinor) is, in countertenor Michael Chances silky throat (1993 model), a poignant, drooping song of sorrow for the departed Lord. Chances 1993 fellow soloists are Nancy Argenta, Anthony Rolfe Johnson, and Stephen Varcoe. They sing BWV43 (Gott fhret auf) and BWV37 (Wer da glubet) with clear enjoyment. Argenta also sings in the 1999 session for BWV128, Auf Christi Himmelfahrt with colleagues Robin Blaze, Stefan Genz, and Reinhard Hagen. The latter has a low Fsharp that is truly bearded. --Rick Jones

Absolutely, stunningly, mind-blowingly brilliant. If you want a great cantata record, this is IT, even more so than the Gardiner pairing of The Big Two BWV140 and 147. Like the 140/147 pairing, these were recorded before the Cantata Pilgrimage of 2000, so are not the live recordings (hopefully soon to appear on Gardiners SDG label). BWV 11 is especially marvellous, and worth having because it may not appear in the SDG set (some cantata editions omit BWV 11 because they consider it a separate "oratorio", rather than a cantata). However, Gardiner is including BWV 190, also omitted by many cantata editions because the first two movements are reconstructions, so Im hopeful that BWV 11 will appear in SDG form. If not, this one is great. The other cantatas are also wonderful. Arise, go forth and buy, and enjoy the sublime genius of one of the worlds great composers.
    Endless Ascension

This disk is the pentiultimate release in John Eliot Gardiners glorious return to the Bach Cantatas. Gardiner has embarked on a visionary "Bach Cantata Pilgrimage" in which he shall conduct every sacred cantata, every Sunday in various churches throughout Europe. 12 disks in all are scheduled for release, of which this disk, to date, is the crown. For those who are avid Cantata collectors, you will remember Gardiners early-90s milestones -- with the same soloists. No soprano is more radiant in Bach than Argenta, the cool opulence of Chances counter-tenor is the exact center of the boy/male alto/contralto controversy, and A. Rolfe-Johnson and Varcoe are simply the most sensitive while still virile voices today. Simply thrilling. (Special note: Robin Blaze, countertenor, does a great job on his solos and we expect great things from him). Other highlights are, as always, the flawless choral and (period-instrument) orchestral playing at wind-swept tempi, and we are particularly grateful for the length of the disk (4 cantatas, nearly 80 minutes of music).

FOUR INSPIRATIONAL CANTATAS REFLECTING BACHS LIFE AND FAITH

Bach wrote his most sublime music for the Church. His first Ascension Day in Leipzig was Thursday May 1724,for which he wrote "Wer da glaubit und getauft wird"BWV37,in which he focuses not on the Ascension story but on the words of Jesus: He who believes and is baptized shall be saved. This cantata opens with a Chorus followed by a Tenor Aria followed by a beautifully sung chorale featuring Soprano and Countertenor then a Bass recitative and aria and ending with a Chorale.

BWV128 "Auf Christi Himmelfahrt allein"(On Christs Ascension Alone) focuses on the eternal implications of Jesus Ascension for the baptized believer. The sections are as follows: Opening Chorus-Tenor recitatime-Bass aria and recitative-an exciting duet featuring countertenor and tenor-ending with a lovely chorale.

In the cantata Gott Fahret auf mit Jauchzen (God has gone up with a shout) Bach set his two-part text based on Psalm 47:5-6 and Mark 16:19. This was partly a token of gratitude to his earthly monarch the King and Elector ,Augustus II this is a joyful setting of praises to the King of Kings. This is actually my favorite of all four because of the variety of vocal conributions which are: Chorus-Tenor recitative and Aria-soprano recitative and aria -bass recitative and aria- countertenor recitative and aria followed by the closing chorale.

In the Ascension Oratorio "Lobet Gott in seinem Reichen" (Praise God in his His riches),the tenor Evangelist sings a compilation of passages from Luke 24:50-2,Acts 1:9-12 and Mark 16:19, which provides a story line joining the remaining movements, three of which are parodied from pre-existent material.

Four cantatas for Ascension Day, each a cameo of Bachs life-experience and faith-from the optimism of the early Leipzig years to the brokeness of a decade later from a joyful acclamation that the baptized believer will be saved, to a yearning for the appearance of the Ascended One. This disc is truly the epitome of Gardiners Bach series and is a musical treasure. As with all of Gardiners efforts the performance is excellent and the soloists are superb. Nancy Argento,soprano-Michael Chance & Robin Blaze (countertenors)-Anthony Rolfe Johnson (tenor)-Stephen Varcoe and Reinhard Hagen (bass). We too are uplifted by this lovely music of Bach.

This recording is certainly a big disappointment for every Gardiner-and Bach-Fan, as I am. For those who know Gardiner at its best, as for example in Bachs "Christmas-Oratorio" or in Monteverdis "Orfeo", this must seem a big step back to a boaring style of interpretation, characterised by staccato-like choirs and inappropriate soloists. The Monteverdi-Choir sounds very aggressive, I would say brutal, with little organic sensitivity. The Soloists (Lunn, Mingardo, and Podger) apparently have no experience with Bach, at least they sound lost in Bachs baroque world. Also Varcoe has seen better days. Comparing with recently recordings of Herreweghe (Wir danken Dir, Gott) this is very weak, also in terms of technical qualitaty of the recording.
HOW WILL IT BE FOR YOU?
Rating Point :5 Helpful Point :2
It should give any would-be reviewer pause (if he is alive to the fallibility of his own judgment) to find that when he is about to post a highly favourable notice of this disc there has been another assessment at about the time the disc was first issued (2000) which takes entirely the opposite view.

The general background is this. The year 2000 marked the 250th anniversary of Bachs death, and in that year Gardiner and his colleagues undertook the project of recording all Bachs cantatas on the liturgical dates for which Bach composed them. The thought of that has me terrified, until I think of the stupefying achievement of the composer himself. So far as I know, the entire series of recordings is now available, and my collection of it amounts now to 9 discs including this one, with two more queued awaiting their first hearing. I have another disc of Gardiners, outwith the project in question, that provides a selection from the Christmas Oratorio (actually a string of cantatas), and I have 7 other Bach cantata discs featuring a variety of other distinguished artists. That, together with a lifetime of obsession with great music, constitutes the background from which I presume to have anything to say to anyone about our set of performances here.

The style that Gardiner adopts is comparatively severe. However it is no different from the approach that he takes in other cantatas in this series. So it may be, to judge from later comment that I have seen, that familiarity has come to breed respect. I buy into this way of doing the cantatas without reservation, because the real warmth comes from within, from a professionals awestruck admiration for what he is given to perform. I have not yet experienced any serious reservation concerning any aspect of the performances that I know so far, nor do I in the case of this one. The four soloists seem excellent to me, and so does the choir and so do the instrumentalists. It might be worth turning up the volume just a little with this disc, but whether you do that or not I cant imagine that most listeners will have much or any difficulty with the recorded quality, which is admirably clear as usual. The four cantatas here are short, as the third Sunday after the Epiphany is the fourth Sunday of January, and Bach does not prolong the already lengthy service unnecessarily in an unheated church. It all comes to just under an hour of music, but music that on its own outweighs the entire output of many a composer. For newcomers, there are probably no knockouts-at-first-hearing among the numbers, nothing quite in the category of Jesu Joy or Sheep May Safely Graze, or of Wir eilen from cantata 78 or Schlummert ein from cantata 82, although I might put the duet So geh ich from cantata 111 in that bracket. However with the Bach cantatas what we are considering is not individual freestanding masterpieces like the Beethoven sonatas but a single sublime and continuous stream of musical homage to the glory of God. The more of the others I get to know, the more I appreciate the four works here.

Why these cantatas and certain others appear on this label as distinct from the main numbered series in the familiar book format I have no idea whatsoever. This disc comes in the usual kind of jewel-box, which actually makes the cds easier to handle and less liable to accidents. The liner contains the full texts with English and French translations, and as in the main series there is an essay by Gardiner plus one other. This latter is not by one of the soloists, but it sketches the biographical background, a time of multiple child-bereavements that must have tested even Bachs faith to its utmost. Gardiners own contribution is also a different and shorter piece than elsewhere.

I can only reiterate that I like the disc without reservation and recommend it similarly. I hope and believe that others will not be disappointed.
